Privacy Policy
ScreenSage is designed to help rename screenshots on your Mac. This policy explains what data the app uses, where that data goes, and what stays entirely on your device.
What the app sends
To generate a filename, ScreenSage sends processed screenshot image data to the AI provider you choose. That may be OpenRouter, a provider you explicitly select such as Google Gemini or OpenAI, or a local Ollama server. If a cloud provider blocks a screenshot for safety reasons, ScreenSage does not retry it across other cloud providers.
What we do not store
ScreenSage does not store your screenshots on our servers. The app processes files locally on your Mac and only sends the data needed to create a description to the selected provider.
Local data stored on your Mac
- Rename history and cost or usage statistics are stored locally in a SQLite database on your device.
- Watched folder paths are stored in UserDefaults so the app can remember which directories to monitor.
- Provider preferences, prompt settings, and related configuration stay on-device.
Analytics
ScreenSage does not enable analytics by default. If privacy-respecting analytics are added later, this policy will be updated to disclose the event categories collected.
Third-party providers
If you use a third-party AI provider, your use of that provider is also governed by the provider's own privacy policy and terms.
Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of ScreenSage, including the macOS app, website, and any related direct-purchase credit packs.
License
Subject to these Terms, you receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use ScreenSage for personal or internal business use.
Acceptable use
- Do not use ScreenSage to violate law, intellectual property rights, or the rights of others.
- Do not attempt to reverse engineer, interfere with, or abuse purchase, activation, or update systems.
- Do not use the service in a way that intentionally harms provider infrastructure or bypasses usage controls.
Credit packs and refunds
Credit packs are consumable usage allowances. For Mac App Store purchases, Apple's billing and refund policies apply. For direct web purchases, refund requests are reviewed case by case, especially for accidental purchases or technical delivery failures. Credits already consumed may not be refundable.
Third-party services
ScreenSage may rely on third-party AI providers and distribution platforms. We are not responsible for outages, policy changes, or pricing changes made by those third parties.
Disclaimers
ScreenSage is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. AI-generated filenames may be imperfect, weirdly specific, or occasionally hilariously wrong.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sugarhouse Tech will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or business interruption arising from use of ScreenSage.
End User License Agreement
This EULA applies to the direct-download and Setapp-distributed versions of ScreenSage. For the Mac App Store version, Apple's standard licensed application terms may also apply where required.
Grant of license
Sugarhouse Tech grants you a revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use ScreenSage on compatible Apple-branded devices you own or control, subject to applicable distribution platform rules.
Restrictions
- You may not resell, sublicense, rent, lease, or redistribute ScreenSage except where applicable law requires otherwise.
- You may not modify, decompile, or reverse engineer the app except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by law.
- You may not remove copyright, trademark, or attribution notices.
Updates
Updates may be delivered through the Mac App Store, Setapp, Sparkle, or direct distribution channels, depending on the build you install.
Termination
This license terminates automatically if you violate this agreement. Upon termination, you must stop using the app and remove installed copies.
No warranty
The app is provided without warranties of any kind except where such warranties cannot be disclaimed under applicable law.
