Why it sticks

Finder clutter turns into searchable memory.

01

Watches your screenshot folder

ScreenSage lives in the menu bar and quietly watches one or more folders without turning into a whole lifestyle.

02

Renames with compact AI descriptions

Instead of Screenshot 2024-01-15.png you get filenames Spotlight can actually find — because the name says what is in the image.

03

Local-first enough to sleep at night

Original files stay on your Mac. Only resized image data is sent to the AI provider you choose. Originals are never uploaded.

04

Works your way

Use included credits, buy more, bring your own API key, or point it at local Ollama. Undo is always one click away.

Privacy & file safety

Your files stay yours.

Originals never uploaded

ScreenSage only sends resized image data to the AI provider you pick. Your original screenshots stay on your Mac.

Undo is always available

Every rename is logged to History. Revert the last rename in one click, or roll back older ones from the History list.

Rename or copy mode

Rename in place, or keep the original and work on a copy. Your call, every time.

Fully local option

Want zero cloud contact? Use Ollama. Nothing leaves your Mac — not even the image data.

FAQ

Does ScreenSage upload my screenshots?

Only the processed image data needed for description generation goes to the provider you chose. Originals always stay on your Mac. If you want zero cloud contact, use Ollama.

Can I use my own AI provider?

Yes. Gemini, OpenAI, OpenRouter, and local Ollama are all supported. Switch any time in Preferences.

Do I need to keep a window open?

No. ScreenSage is a menu bar app. It runs quietly in the background and minds its own business.

What if I hate the new filename?

History lets you revert renames. The app is not trying to permanently claim your screenshots.

How does pricing work exactly?

You buy ScreenSage once for the app. The first 100 images use included credits. After that: buy more credits, paste your own API key, or use Ollama for free.
